What is it used for?

Operating the marked element sends an alarm signal to the panel. Some models use a break-glass element; others have a resettable element. The selected call point must be compatible with the alarm system.

  • Visible, accessible positions along the approved escape routes

What does it offer?

  • Manual warning complements automatic detection

Types and key differences

Conventional or addressable
Selected to match the panel and circuit; an addressable point identifies its own location.
Indoor or weather-resistant
The enclosure rating must suit exposure at the actual location.

What needs checking before selection?

  • Do not conceal or obstruct call points. They raise an alarm; they are not automatically fire-suppression release switches.

Components and scope

  • Compatible call point and back box
  • Identification, wiring and function testing

From survey to handover

  1. Survey the building and identify the hazard.
  2. Select compatible equipment and prepare the project design for the required review.
  3. Install, test and document the work; hand over operating information and a maintenance plan.

In Saudi Arabia, the design is reviewed against applicable Saudi Building Code requirements, including SBC 801, and the competent authority’s requirements. Capacity, quantities, coverage and testing follow the project design and manufacturer instructions. Safety licensing remains subject to the authority’s process through Salamah.
