What is it used for?

Each compatible detector or interface has an address and a location description. The panel communicates with these devices and can apply a programmed response to their signals, according to the approved cause-and-effect design.

  • Multi-area facilities where precise alarm location helps response
  • Projects requiring system interfaces or future expansion

What does it offer?

  • Device-level location and diagnostics
  • Flexible programming within the selected system's capabilities

Types and key differences

Compared with conventional panels
The practical difference is device identification instead of zone-only indication. A small building can still benefit if its response requirements justify it.

What needs checking before selection?

  • Addressable devices are not universally interchangeable. Panel protocol, approved compatibility and commissioning all matter.

Components and scope

  • Panel, loops and compatible devices
  • Device addressing and location schedule
  • Interface programming and functional tests

From survey to handover

  1. Survey the building and identify the hazard.
  2. Select compatible equipment and prepare the project design for the required review.
  3. Install, test and document the work; hand over operating information and a maintenance plan.

In Saudi Arabia, the design is reviewed against applicable Saudi Building Code requirements, including SBC 801, and the competent authority’s requirements. Capacity, quantities, coverage and testing follow the project design and manufacturer instructions. Safety licensing remains subject to the authority’s process through Salamah.
