What is it used for?
FM-200 is the trade name for HFC-227ea. A designed quantity is discharged into an enclosure to suppress fire, primarily by absorbing heat. It is electrically non-conductive and leaves no agent residue.
- Suitable server, telecommunications and control rooms
What does it offer?
- Avoids water discharge onto protected equipment
- No agent-residue cleanup
Types and key differences
- Choosing the system
- Room use, contents, agent availability and lifecycle support must be confirmed before specifying a model or quantity.
What needs checking before selection?
- Occupancy, exposure limits, ventilation and enclosure integrity require engineered review. Evacuate on warning; never describe a gas discharge as harmless to people.
Components and scope
- Agent cylinder, valves, pipework and nozzles
- Detection, release control and warning devices
- Required interfaces and enclosure assessment
From survey to handover
- Survey the building and identify the hazard.
- Select compatible equipment and prepare the project design for the required review.
- Install, test and document the work; hand over operating information and a maintenance plan.
In Saudi Arabia, the design is reviewed against applicable Saudi Building Code requirements, including SBC 801, and the competent authority’s requirements. Capacity, quantities, coverage and testing follow the project design and manufacturer instructions. Safety licensing remains subject to the authority’s process through Salamah.
