What is it used for?
The extinguisher discharges carbon dioxide through a horn. It can suppress a small suitable fire without powder deposits, but provides limited lasting cooling.
- Suitable electrical equipment and flammable-liquid risks covered by the extinguisher label
What does it offer?
- No extinguishing-agent residue
Types and key differences
- Portable use
- Only trained people should tackle a small fire with a clear escape route. Raising the alarm and evacuating take priority.
What needs checking before selection?
- CO₂ can accumulate dangerously in confined spaces; the discharge horn can become very cold. Re-ignition is possible. It is not the usual choice for deep-seated solid-material fires.
Components and scope
- Rated CO₂ extinguisher, horn and mounting
- Accessible location, identification and servicing
From survey to handover
- Survey the building and identify the hazard.
- Select compatible equipment and prepare the project design for the required review.
- Install, test and document the work; hand over operating information and a maintenance plan.
In Saudi Arabia, the design is reviewed against applicable Saudi Building Code requirements, including SBC 801, and the competent authority’s requirements. Capacity, quantities, coverage and testing follow the project design and manufacturer instructions. Safety licensing remains subject to the authority’s process through Salamah.
